Operation- Puppy Rescue

While Mumbai was grappled by fear and terrorism, back in Bangalore this weekend was very nightmarish for me, a dog and her 3 puppies. It rained this Friday. It rained all night in Bangalore(courtesy, the depression in Bay of Bengal) There was a lot of commotion in and around our street that night with a lot of debates by the dogs and the next morning we heard the cries of puppies trapped in the gutter, a couple of houses away from mine. The mother of the puppies was skinny and was crying nearby. She went and fetched another dog, but couldn't do much.

I waited patiently for the guarding mother to allow me to come near her pups and managed to squeeze those tubby-cute-rolly-polly puppies out of the crack in the gutter cover which was made of long blocks of stone. Then a few good men got around and broke the stone to get the third fella out. The operation lasted until about mid-night, but we went home happy and relieved for saving those poor souls.

Above is my rough illustration of the entire operation which lasted for over 6 hours. End of all this, I come into my house and say "Yay, we did it" to which my husband said cheekily, Okay, now you'll be put on the first elephant for the Republic Day Parade to recieve the bravery award. (I know he admires my spirit though)
